“For freedom Christ has set us free, stand fast therefore and do not submit again again to yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1

The first part of this verse is pretty straightforward. St. Paul is talking about the fact that Christ has set us free. This is a commonly understood concept. But maybe the second half is a little bit less obvious, or a little bit less clear. It says, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. And we think, you know, maybe some of us have never considered ourselves to be slaves of anything, but probably many of us are or have been slaves to different things. Whether it's slavery to pornography or slavery to drugs, or slavery to alcoholism, or slavery to soap operas. Whatever it is, St. Paul is encouraging us to not turn ourselves over to slavery, but rather to belong to Christ.

Thank you Lord so much for this day and help us to have the strength to say no to the things that pull us away from you. We love you Lord and we want to be with you and stay with you and we pray all of this, in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
