1 John 4: 18-19 “There is no fear in love, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love because he loved us first.”
I have had the blessing of being prayed over by some super holy people. They were messengers for God in that moment. Giving me the direction I needed. One thing their prayers have all had in common is this: God loves us. So deeply. I can never hear it enough.
We have such a confusing view of love in our world. We each have our own misunderstanding of the word. Personally, I struggle with feeling like I constantly need to prove my worth to God and people around me (myself included). I cannot stop working. I cannot stop striving. I cannot stop achieving. Or else I’ll be unlovable. The moment I stop to smell the roses is the moment I feel exposed, lazy, unimportant… And so I keep going. And going. And going.
Analyze for a moment your own cynical interpretation of love that may have infiltrated your relationship with God. Is the love of God something you feel you need to earn? Is is something you take for granted? Is it something you feel will never satisfy you? Is His love something you’ll never be good enough for? Does His love feel controlling? Conditional?
Stop.
Breathe.
This is what TRUE LOVE is, my friends…
Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the LOVE of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:37-39
Oh, He LOVES us.
Once we understand the true definition of love, then we can freely give true love back. The more we open ourselves up to His love, the better love we can extend to God, our spouses, friends, children and families.
Today, write 5 things you love about God. Then choose one person in your life and write 5 things you love about them. Tell God and this person what you wrote. #TRUELoveWins
Take a Victory and a Blessing, my loves!
Alina
P.S. Jesus loves you ;-)
