Our Lighthouse

Philippians 2:6-11 “Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Today is Palm Sunday. Today we lift high our Lord Jesus and proclaim him as our Savior. But by Friday… will we call out to “crucify Him?” How little humanity changes. How fickle are our hearts.

Time and time again, God proves Himself to me. He’s never let me down. He’s always taken my wrong turns and guided me safely to the right path. Being quite the worrier, God knows that I need LOTS of reminders and signs that He’s with me. But I still find myself forgetful of His goodness. I wax and wane like the tide, forgetting my identity in Him as His beloved daughter. Emotions, circumstances, and fears toss me in their grasp, pulling me from the safe embrace of my Heavenly Father. And soon enough, I can’t see shore. My fickle heart has left me stranded in the middle of a dark sea.

It’s when we feel like we’ve completely lost sight of Him that he steps out onto the stormy waters and reminds us of His power and great love.

Holy week has begun. Lent is almost over! Turn your gaze to our beloved Jesus. Correct your course back to Him. He’s there, waiting for you in any loneliness and confusion. He’s there in the daily duties and worries that drown you. He’s there in the happy moments that lift you to the skies. He’s there in the fear. He’s there in every moment. He’s our beaming lighthouse that bursts through the darkness to rescue us from our fickle hearts.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” John 8:12

Take a Victory and a Blessing, friends!
